Public Debate: Is the countryside becoming the playground of the urban masses?
7th September 2004, 6pm-8pm. Queen's Building, University of Exeter

  • Is agriculture in decline?

  • What does the future hold for Britain's countryside?

  • Will our farms become show pieces for the enjoyment of weekending urbanites?

  • Is there a distinctive countryside quality we should be fighting to preserve?

  • Does it matter?

These questions and others will be discussed in an ESRC Public Debate, to be held at the University of Exeter as part of the BA Festival of Science. The Chair for the event will be Louise Batchelor, BBC Science Correspondent.
