Sir:

Whilst recognising that there should be no barriers to anyone training to achieve professional standards in any occupation, I was delighted to hear that the NHS will now have nurses carrying out surgery, following on from assistants teaching whole classes in schools.

When the Government approves of air stewards and hostesses flying planes, may I suggest that the whole Cabinet be invited to fly on the first trainee's flight to recognise these great revolutions in the "flexible workforce" dreamt up by this government to short-cut resourcing problems.
