"......I have some material that I researched over three days, from a company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. There is a test that has been discovered which tests LIVE cattle for BSE. The firm is vacci-test or www.vacci-test.com. The test has gone through most levels of government testing, but because we are an EU country, they are going through the final validation for the EU and should have that done by the end of the year. The Hon. Mr Charlie Mayer and I spoke by phone call to Alberta for about 45 minutes. He used to be Minister of Agriculture in Canada, and I believe him to be an honest man, interested in stopping post mortem testing.

What a gift this will be to the agricultural industry.
Because his country doesn't really have BSE, they have had to get specimens from Lyon France, and the UK.Currently tests have only been post mortem. My argument to DEFRA will go this way. What is the point in culling Harriet now after 9 years, when in only three months she can be live tested with a single drop of blood, with results after 30 minutes, to prove the point?
I hope this help's a little in giving an angle not yet pursued.
Vacci-Test - Rapid Diagnostic Tests
The Vacci-Test series of diagnostic tests are tools for both the measurement of 'antibody immunity'(for vaccine screening tests); and the presence of 'antigens'(for yes/no infection diagnosis) in both human and animal disease. The Vacci-Test patented technology allows for the precise and rapid evaluation of the immune status through a simple blood test. The Corporation is now ready to launch several Vacci-Test products for commercialization including the live diagnosis of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy ("TSE") infections including Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy ("BSE" in cattle), Cervid Encephalopathy or Chronic Wasting Disease ("CWD" in deer/elk) and variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease ("vCJD" in humans).
Vacci-TestBSE: An accurate, reliable and economical test that with a single drop of blood can rapidly detect (in less than 30 minutes) the presence of a newly discovered specific blood marker for the yes/no diagnosis of BSE or "Mad Cow Disease" in 'live' cattle. Vacci-Test BSE will facilitate affordable mass testing of cattle in the field with results that will have widespread implications for the livestock industry. Soon cow/calf producers will be able to certify that their cattle are free of BSE and as such, be able to export live animals across any international border. This is a tremendous Marketing opportunity for countries such as Canada to sell their beef and cattle at prices that reflect premium AAA grades.
Currently BSE can only be detected through 'post-mortem' testing; in a laboratory process that takes much longer to identify; and that is significantly more expensive than Vacci-Test BSE.
