David Lidington: Government spins more yarns

June 6 2003

Commenting on reports today that the Government has been 'changing the content' of official Food Standard Agency Reports, to mislead the public. David Lidington, Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said,

"This is very alarming, it is vital that the Food Standards Agency is independent, but that the public is told the truth."

"The Government need to be straight with the British people and not treat them like children. This is just another example of this Labour Government 'spinning' reports for their own political gain".
