These rules and regulations are becoming a joke - or at least they would be funny if they were not so devastating.

There are many of us in this Country who keep livestock as PETS. Defra does not seem to be able to cater for this possibility or even accept in its its psych.

We are not opposed to doing what is required of us but our animals will not enter the food chain and we have them in our care for no other reason than simply to care for them and to enjoy watching them live their lives in peace and safety NOT TO MUTILATE them. Ear tags get ripped out when goats/sheep play with each, by brambles, fencing, etc.

The animals that are caught up in this petty game being played out by Defra DO NOT deserve this treatment - their lives are hard enough. With the goats of this Country Defra will not recognise Goat Club numbers and the Goat Club will not recognise Defra's - so the poor goat ends up with a tag in each ear.

This Government seems for, some insane reason, to be intent on making the lives of all those people who have livestock a living hell. But will we stand up to them? Why do we keep complying with their requests? What would they do if we all stopped earmarking? How can so many people in this so called 'animal loving' Country turn a blind eye to so many of their fellow men and women living in fear for their animals' lives? Every day we are wary of what we do and where we go and who we speak to - and only to protect the lives of that which we hold so dear to us.

CAN THIS BE RIGHT IN 21st CENTURY BRITAIN? SOMETHING IS SO, SO WRONG & WE MUST START FIGHTING IT.
