Cumbria County Council Inquiry

Panel selected.

The Panel members who have been selected from the 40 nominations received are as follows:

Andrew Humphries - former Assistant Director of Newton Rigg Agricultural College, currently Farm Business Advisor through Farmlink.

John Hetherington - Farmer, forner Vice Principal of Newton Rigg Agricultural College.

David Etherden - extensive business interests in the Keswick area.

Jan Darrell - Policy Officer with extensive environmental interests - FOLD.

Nicholas Gent - Former Director of Public Health for the Morecambe Bay Health Authority.

Prof Derek Ellwood - Director of Westlakes Research Institute.

Rev Canon Geoffrey Revalde - Former Barrister and Vicar of Wigton and Rural Dean of Carlisle.

Philip Hancock - Involvement in the agricultural supplies sector.

9 were selected so I presume one has still not confirmed their willingness to serve.

The letter says:

"We believe that this panel will provide a broad spread of expertise able to hear and assess evidence. Many of those nominated had day to day involvement with the FMD outbreak and it was, in general, felt that they would be valuable in offering written or oral evidence to the Inquiry.
