.... I drove through Snowdonia and the Horseshoe pass. I love the journey for the spectacular scenery and the sheep that are everywhere. For the first time in all the years that I have driven these two routes I was amazed to see NO sheep.
I spoke to Dafydd Morris of the Council of the Welsh Highland Shepherds and he said it was for a combination of reasons, including:-
l) Some of the sheep had been caught up in the Anglesey killing
2) Some farmers were unable to get licences to bring the sheep back,and probably more worryingly,
3) Some of the farmers were being paid to keep their sheep on the lowlands, by some of the national environmental/conservation groups, blaming the sheep for devastating the higher grounds.
