Father Christmas cannot use his usual transport this 25 December because he will not be able to obtain a movement licence from DEFRA.They have advised instead that he uses a horse and carriage. (Purely on a local visit basis of course - he does seem to get around the country very fast).
Well, being toymakers on permanent contract to the great man himself, I can tell you he is certainly not happy about this. Unfortunately horses cannot stand patiently on a slippery roof as well as reindeer - and they certainly can't fly either . And when have you seen a horse with a shiny red nose?
What the hell is Santa expected to tell little kids this time around when they ask him where his reindeer are? Sorry - culled by DEFRA. Suppose he'll have a A notice slapped on his log cabin if he dares to step out the door without disinfecting his sleigh. Or perhaps only allowed out with a DEFRA escort - or gnome - sitting beside him on top of the toy sacks? Mind you, would we actually recognise Santa with his white detox suit on?
