Anyone who has been 'through foot and mouth' will by now have no illusions left

as to the veracity or not of the reportage of the BBC and many local newspapers.

We have been mesmerised at the falsehoods reported on the news channels, especially the  farming programmes on the radio, but we have learned that there are many ways in which these superficial and so-called debates are taking place.

Some of these are :
1  get a so-called expert to provide false information and many people will swallow this as coming from an expert
2 get an ignorant if well-meaning person to spout on these issues and their vehemence will be convincing if misleading
3 pour scorn on the people who do know the facts as to what has happened and because they are discredited their views will be dismissed
4 provide a very selective argument and keep the whole mass of information in the dark and everyone will believe that this is all there is to know
5 repeat the falsehoods so that their constant repetition becomes the accepted wisdom
6 use all forces of persuasion including the churches and union leaders so that the ordinary person feels out of step- even though they can remember the evidence of their own eyes
7 keep the general reportage regional so that Joe public does not know that his fellow man feels exactly as he does
8 use people with vested to repeat the official lies
9 use rentagob.....very popular in foot and mouth and evident in the many quangoes set up so that officialdom can say there are no complaints ......
I could go on.

We have personally been subjected to several of these and nothing is a surprise any more.

There is little one can do against these mighty and well-funded sources.  All I can do is describe what is possible to help swing the balance, which is:
1 always reply to misleading articles in the local papers
2 write letters of your own to your local papers and organise others to do similarly
3 be prepared to go to open meetings and early on STAND UP and provide information which is better informed
4 give financial aid if you can to the various national campaigns against Blair babes because this offsets isolation and provides endless use full facts
5 tell anyone who will listen that it is bullshiit but what is also useful is asking people[in the shops,on the local library etc,] what they know about food sourcing ....and so on.

WE COULD OF COURSE JOIN FARMERS FOR  ACTION OR HAVE A SIT-IN OUTSIDE THE BBC OR OUTSIDE A LOCAL RADIO STATION. ANY MORE IDEAS?
