July 23 ~ The Western Morning News have published this letter from a thoroughly exasperated Nick Green in Cumbria
"Today, as we read the watered down, camouflaged results of the Royal Society, I listened in astonishment to two rather odd pronouncements. The first by our Toni! You know, the chap who took "personal control" of the 2001 FMD fiasco. Well now, we all know how well Tone did, don`t we? Anyway, earlier today, the future President of Europe announces that, "In the real world, the buck stops with the PM, and that`s me!"
As if we had forgotten! So, Tony, that must mean you were responsible for one of the most savage, illegal, barbaric and unscientific policies to be forced on our rural communities. To that end, it is YOU who must be held accountable and it is YOU who must pay the full price for your errors!
RESIGN NOW!Secondly, Mr Brian Follett, Chairman of the RSI.... When I attended the RSI meeting at Carlisle, I was shocked at the overbearing arrogance of Follett and some members of the committee. At this meeting was another totally lamentable character: Mr Peter Allan, NFU Hill farming Rep., Cumbrian farmer and awarded an MBE this year!
I have heard farmers call Mr Allan a traitor who betrayed Cumbrian farmers. During this Carlisle meeting the only thing contributed by Allan was an impersonation of a nodding dog in response to every word spoken by Follett and co! He was so obviously out of his depth; the token farmer.I digress. Follett announces on TV this evening that, "There are still some problems with vaccination, but they are not insurmountable!"
What problems exactly Mr Follett? Please tell me why less than a year ago your committee told the audience at Carlisle that vaccination does not work, carriers cannot be identified, Argentina had terrible problems caused by using vaccination and other such lies! So, why have you suddenly changed your mind?
Well it might just have been the contribution made by Prof. Fred Brown, the world's leading expert in FMD control and author of nearly 300 scientific papers relating to FMD. Why wasn`t Fred listened to last year (answer: political policy by Blair) and what possible use was Mr Peter Allan on the RSI?
