The RSE Inquiry committee will be visiting the Borders on the 26th February

The Royal Society of Edinburgh has sent us more details about their visit to the Borders on Feb 26th "The Newcastleton meeting starts at 3.15 and goes on till 5.45. Local people were anxious that we should stay as long as possible and are feeding us there ... we then go on to Newtown St Boswells for the meeting in the Council Chamber beginning at 7.30. These arrangements have been widely advertised throughout the Borders- eight local papers are taking our notice and all plus local radio have been approached by RSE press officer. Details are going on the web-site. .. Transport will be provided from Edinburgh back to Edinburgh
We shall be meeting Borders Council personnel first and travelling to Newcastleton for the first open meeting that afternoon.
In the evening we shall have a further public meeting in the Council Chambers in Newtown St Boswells.

These meetings are being held so that the committee members can hear views and experiences; we shall be entirely in listening mode to whose lives and businesses were affected by FMD. They must have the opportunity to say what they want to say.

Broadly the same arrangements will apply for our Dumfries visit which is scheduled for 11/12th March.

There will be a public open meeting - venue not yet fixed - on the evening of 11th March-this will be advertised locally.
